Gothic Melody: The Beginning

Pandora looked at the large lab surrounding the metallic walls, the buzzing of the highly functioning machinery around the large tube that held the sleeping body of the man that now housed her gene’s. Was she fond of the man? That was a good question, a very good question; however the answer was simple. She felt as if any creator would for one of her creations, though this one was perhaps a very special one. Worthy of the money she had thrown into the program.

“Pandora, my dear sister. How many men are you going to create to make you happy, hm? Every creation you thought was the one ended up being scrap metal, face it. Your mind is that of a scientist, however, I am gifted with the abilities to have as I wish. Your human project will also be mine.” Graceona laughed at her sister who sighed.

“Graceona, why do you even partake in these? You have stated many times that you think scientists and scarecrows are a waste of money.” Pandora retorted to her half-sister.

Heels clacking interrupted the silent atmosphere, Pandora felt as Graceona moved her hair, her lips placed against her ear, “You really wish for that answer, I want to witness your failure of course.”

Pandora turned on her heels, her hand raised to strike the red haired Half Breed. Graceona caught her human sister’s hand with a smile lifting her up, “Mommy and Daddy aren’t here to get you out of trouble this time. If you haven’t gotten any recollections as to why, maybe I shall give you a taste of the pain your skimpy mother caused my father.” Graceona’s eyes glowed as she threw Pandora hardly into the electric paneling causing it to break.

A smile crossed Grace’s lips as she extended her arm opening her hand as fire lit up the machines, water fell from the sky. Graceona looked at her sister grabbing her jacket collar, “Note this sister, that man that you have in your sights is the only thing keeping me from erasing you from this world. He is mine, he loved me before and his love will remain at that. Face it; no one will love you as your mother did. Unless I die you will never have a man of your own, and seeing we are different beings in this world. Fortunately, you will not be rewarded for your sins your mother done to my father that caused his downfall.”

Pandora spit blood at Graceona who smile, “I feel your hatred for me, that is what I desire sister. That way I feel less guilty being the cause of you joining your mother along with all your machine boyfriends in death,” Graceona was interrupted by a choking noise. Looking behind her, she watched as the man struggled to get air and get free from his prison.

The red haired woman walked over to the tube placing her hand on it as glass and water shattered the man fell into her arms. Coughing up water as Graceona stared angrily at Pandora, “You will pay for this, Pandora!” The red haired woman placed the man’s arm around her shoulder leaving with him.

Pandora struggled to her feet only to have the metal doors and window to lock down a recording said, “Self destruction has been activated, Repeat self-destruction has been activated all employee report to the outside.”

Pandora looked around her, so this was it. Graceona had won.

Graceona was stopped by the alarm she looked at the drowsy man who staggered in her grip, she looked at the metallic doors holding Pandora and sighed, “She’s not dying today. Not this way, what joy would I gain from her death unless by my hands.”

The doors dented until the pressure of the telekinesis bent them beyond repair. Looking at the man in her arms once more, lifting him over her shoulder, she ran from the building knocking over any obstacles. She ran through the lab's front door, she stopped sitting her lover against a tree in safe distance from the labs explosion, kneeling down to him she looked at him moving his hair from his face. “No one will separate us again, my love. I promise, just please snap out of this, it’s over now. Your safe, please yell at me, scream at me. Let me know you will be alright.” She felt a tear run down her cheek as she got him into an embrace crying into his chest.

Graceona rose up looking at the blank expression in his eyes, empty of anything. “I’m sorry, that I wasn’t there to protect you. What has she done to you, I’ll kill her right now!” Tears of rage rolled down her face. She stood up to feel a wet hand grab her wrist, looking down, she saw Leonard had her wrist looking at her.

She bent down to him, he looked at her stroking her hair Graceona smiled, “I have never seen you cry Graceona, let’s go home. Alright?” Leonard stated wiping her tears with his thumb.

Graceona nodded her head helping Leonard to his feet wrapping his arm around her shoulders, Leonard looked at her, and “I can walk, Graceona.”

The red haired vixen looked at him, he got loose from her grip Graceona watched as he twisted his hair and the water fell from it. He looked at his attire, a white science jacket and white elastic pants. He sighed, taking the jacket off Graceona got the jacket from his hand twirling it smacking it against the nearby tree. The sound of a racket against a wet cloth rang out. She then arranged it handing it to him, he slid it over his head putting it on. He fixed his long hair to fall down his back. Graceona looked at his pants then at him with a smile. Leonard focused on her, “I will quote you on this, ‘Don’t even think about it’.”

Graceona chuckled, looking at him, “I’ve seen your modesty before, how would you explain our newborn daughter at home if I haven’t crossed that line?”

Leonard still focused on Graceona, “Rachelle was born? How is she?”

Graceona smiled once more, “As beautiful as any creature I imagined coming from a True Blood Vampire.”

“I want to see her, where is she?” Leonard smiled.

Graceona still smiling got his hand, “She’s at home, the servants are watching her.”

Leonard closed his hand around hers, Graceona watched as he kissed her lips moaning in pleasure when his fangs dug into her lip, Graceona sank her own fangs into his lips, he wrapped his arm around her head the two of them backed into a tree never letting up on their embrace and kissing. Graceona grabbed the back of his jacket ripping it to the seams.

Leonard smiled, as did Graceona he rose up licking the blood from his lips, letting the remains of his jacket fall to misty grounds. Graceona licked the blood from her lips. Leonard looked at her, “Your father did well raising you to satisfying a True Blood, that was better than I imagined in my slumbering dreams.”

Graceona looked around wiping her mouth, “You sense it too?” Leonard looked at the entrance of the woods as the loud explosion of the labs echoed in the air.

“Yeah, Pandora managed to make it out. Though everyone else must have been locked in their stations and taken out along with the labs.” Graceona turned from the entrance, walking further into the woods, “She must be lucky.” The redhead woman stated as Leonard followed her.

“Graceona, I know you hate Pandora. I also am aware of the reasons for your hatred, but should you blame a child for something she had no part of? It was Lydia that helped in your father’s slaying, Pandora was just found in the wrong place, and at the wrong time. I feel though her mother was the bait that lured the storm, shouldn’t you allow the fire to die out instead of spread every time Pandora comes your way?”

Graceona stopped looking at her mate, “Unless there is solid proof that Pandora had nothing to do with my father’s death, I suppose my anger would be put at bay; but, those who were involved are either dead or in hiding, so I don’t know.”

Leonard looked at her, “My followers have assisted the Haunting family for many years, my great grandfather, then my father, then I myself took that oath to assist your family. I have solid evidence that would put some closure to your mind, though it would also bring more questions that I don’t have the answers to.”

Graceona tilted her head, folding her arms across her breasts, “Leonard, I know you hold the answers to that night; but, I know you are like I was when the battle came to a close, your father and many of the True Bloods that assisted him died on the battlefield. Why you love and care so deeply for me, I’ll never understand, I was in danger and your father took the attack meant for me and he was killed due to that move.”

Leonard cradled her face in his hands, kissing her forehead, “My father made that decision, even if he had not had risked his life to save you, I would have taken that shot. My beloved Graceona, do you not know your affects you had back then and also to this day, you have a will as fierce as wildfire, as well as the attitude of justice, for those you love. My father, plus myself ordered the night before the battle that you were to be protected above anyone else in that fight.”

Graceona jerked away from her lover’s grip, “You allowed my father to die! You had every intention of making sure I made it out alive, Leonard you knew I loved my father! My father worshipped the ground you and your family walked on only for you not to offer your hand in assistance when he needed the most protection. If you and your father were so concerned about my status in the battle, why were you persistent? Persistent in my joining the fight,” She pushed him away from her, “It was you mainly that stated I would do the most harm in the battle even giving me your word that I would walk away with full satisfaction for Lydia’s death. Do you remember saying those words to me Leonard?”

Leonard looked at her, reaching to stroke her hair in attempts to calm her now mood of anger. Graceona slapped his hand away, “You have me misled Graceona, my main focus was for your health. My father thought he had the perfect plan to aid both you and your father to safety, but as stated Pandora showed up at the wrong place, at the wrong time. If you remember that night, I had settled the battle, to just a confrontation with Lydia’s family and the Vampire Hunters, it was when Pandora showed up to the grounds. I begged her to leave and return home, while Lydia told her to stay. You were ready to attack the child that moment, it took me, and two other True Bloods to hold you back. With your rash attempts on the child’s appearance a brief battle broke out, we did damage to the Vampire Hunter’s forces causing them to retreat. Leaving only humans against True Blood Vampire’s, it was you that ordered, we do something with them. You were our new leader since your father fell in battle, so we had no choice but to slay innocent lives, though you ordered that Pandora be left alone and as far as I can see to this day. You still have the hatred for humans that would over fuel a True Blood’s hatred for being used as hired hands.”

Graceona looked at him, “So you gave your story on why I shouldn’t hate Pandora, but you failed your story brings up memories of my own that night. You told your version to your best abilities, but, my hatred for Pandora began before she came waltzing into something she clearly had no business in. I have other reasons, that happened behind closed doors and until you see the events for yourself. You would never believe the crime came from someone you claim is so innocent and pure.”

Leonard looked at her as she sighed, walking further into the woods.

This is the way Gothic Melody was intented to be written when I first started the series, I thought it would be a bad idea so I never attempted to do it, now that I have I am in love with the idea of the pairing and the storyline I hope that you guys will enjoy this too.

All RIGHT, down to some business!
First off, I'm extremely impressed with how quickly the story jerks your attention. You have a fine idea of action scenes, consistently moving and bringing you intimately close to the characters. Speaking of characters, I really enjoy Leonard and Graceona's relationship; it seems to be one of passion and trust. They obviously play different roles in the relationship, with Leonard easing her aggression and fire while Graceona is completely dedicated to the good man. Haha, I found it amusing that she obviously really was happy to see him again, and yet she suddenly gets angry at him two minutes later.
Sounds like a damn good romance.
Poor Pandora; she seemed to be doing nothing wrong in the beginning, and as the lore unfolded, it would seem she did nothing wrong back in the day either. I wonder if those two are a match for each other at all, or if Pandora is just far weaker than Graceona? I'd be really excited to see her rival.
I'm being quite honest with you; I want to follow this story and read it to the end. You're an excellent writer who has a lot of potential. I can definitely see you published if you keep honing your craft. (Honestly, who DOESN'T need to hone their craft?!) Is there any other works you can direct me to that has the same character?
Clara, this is excellent work. Keep. Writing.
